Welcome back

Good morning year one
I hope you are all well and keeping yourself safe.  Did you have a lovely Easter holiday with lots of special treats to enjoy?  Today I would like us to be thinking about our family and how special they are to us.  Please remember to comment on the post and send any pictures through email so that I can see what you are doing.  Hope you all have a lovely day.

Activity 1

A candle is a sign of light and love.  In school we light a candle in assembly when we want to focus our thoughts and reflect.
Can you please draw your own design for a special candle?  Draw your candle so it has a flame burning brightly.  Throughout today please spend a little time thinking about someone who might need some love and a special hug today.

Activity 2

Over the last 5 weeks or more for some of you, we have spent lots of time at home with our loved ones.  This helps us to appreciate all they do for us and what we can do for them.  Can you draw all the people in your family, including the ones that you are unable to visit at the moment?
Then write a short sentence about each of them to say why they are special to you.

Activity 3

The weather is going to be nice and sunny today.  Why don't you go on a rainbow scavenger hunt.  You have to find something inside or outside your house that is all the colours in a rainbow.  You can then take a picture.  So find something that is red.  Then find something that is yellow and so on.

Thank you
I will post some of your lovely pictures/photos at the end of the day for you to enjoy.

Reflection
I hope you have all had a good day.  Thank you for your lovely words and photos that you have sent to me.  I have included some photos below for you to see.  Have a lovely evening and see you tomorrow.

Good morning year one

I hope you all had a good evening and lots of sleep.  Thank you to you and your parents for sending comments and photos that I can read.  Looking at your pictures really cheers me up each morning and makes me smile.  I hope you are all well and staying safe.  Lots of children near to where I live are sitting a teddy in the window to remind people to stay home and keep safe.  Maybe you are already doing this but if not you might like to do the same.

Let's start with a fun warm up.  You can ask a family member to join in!

Our topic for this term was all about Barnaby bear and the 7 continents.  First, can you remember the names of the Continents.  Then I think it would be nice for Barnaby bear to visit the Queen.  Imagine he has an idea for a new palace/ castle for her and her family to live in.  So you could draw a fabulous picture of his special outfit he will need to wear when he meets her.  Then you can draw what you think would be special enough for the Queen to live in.  It has to be very grand, lots of gold, maybe some jewels, towers and large windows for her to look out from.  You could make something with boxes and any old junk modelling stuff you might have.  Then you will need to design a very sparkly outfit for the Queen to wear.  Finally, you could write a sentence/sentences about his special visit.

Activity 2

3D shapes hunt

Can you remember the names of our 3D shapes?  Here are some pictures  to help you.  I thought today you could go on a 3D shape hunt around your house or garden.  Count how many items you find or see that is the same shape as the ones below.  Can you find something that is the same as a cube?  Can you find something that is cone shape?  And so on with the other shapes.  Which one did you find the most of?  Which one did you find the least of?

Activity 3

Why don't you make a game outside in your garden.  If you have some chalk you can make your own hopscotch.  You can also do some exercises out side and time yourself.  How many star jumps can you do in 1 minute?  Jogging on the spot.  You can play our chilli bean game with a member of your
family.  You can practice throwing and catching with a ball and bouncing a ball.

I hope you all have a great day.  I will reflect at the end of the day and share some photos.  Then I will share some Easter activities that you might want to do over the Easter Holiday.

Magical

Good morning year 1

I received some fantastic pictures yesterday of all the brilliant things you have been doing at home.  I hope you all had a great kindness day.  Thank you also for your comments which cheers me up each day.  Remember to keep fit with Joe Wicks live on you tube at 9am.

Activity 1

Let's have a quick practice of our phonics to start us off for today. Go to our phonics play activity again to play some of the games on phase 5.   Then let's see if you can see how long it takes you to make the 11 words below.

These words are all missing the  ee  sound.

tr__                       sl____p                 w____ping            d_____p

thr_____              ch______ky              p_____p            f______t

Today I thought it would be nice for you to design your own repeating patterns picture.  You can use shapes if you like.  I have given you some examples to look at to help you.  Challenge yourself to make a really unusual repeating pattern.

Activity 3

A fun activity today would be to build your own den or cave.  Check with parents first!
Think about what you will use and where you will build it.  It has to be exciting and fun filled.  You can play with your toys hidden away in your den or cave.   Make it into a story and then have a go at writing a short imaginative story about your den.

Here are some examples of other children's dens to inspire you.

I will post a selection of photos for you all to see later.

kind words

Good morning Year 1

Hope you are all feeling well and keeping safe.  It's a bit cloudy today and quite cold.  Thank you all for your comments and photos. Did any of you do PE with Joe Wicks?  Let me know if you did.
Today I thought we could focus on being kind.  This is something we talk about all the time in school and now it is extra special to be kind and caring.  Please remember to post a comment and send any photos through email.

Activity 1

What does kindness mean to you?
Draw a picture of all the people in our communities who are kind and help others.  Remember to label who they are. For example - nurses, doctors, care workers, police, shopkeepers, delivery drivers, teachers, post men and women, family members,  friends and ambulance drivers and there are lots more.  See how many you can think of?

Activity 2

Why don't you today do something helpful for a member of your family.  You can help bake or lay the table at lunch time.  You can tidy your bedroom and get some soapy water and wash your plastic toys. (probably best to do this in the garden).  I'm sure there is something really kind that you can do.
You can then make a paper chain of kindness like the one below.  Make strips of paper and write something kind on each one then stick them together.
Paper Chain Kindness (K-5) – Small Act Big Impact

Activity 3

Today it would be nice to write a letter to a relative or close friend to tell them how much they mean to you.  You can then take a photo of it and send it to them.  You can say what you miss about them and tell them what you have been doing whilst at home.  You can draw them a picture of yourself with a smiley face to cheer them up.  You could also ask your parents permission and give a relative and quick call to say something kind.

You can finish your kindness day by writing down a short list of the things you are grateful for.  choose 3 things.  For example - good food to eat.

Remember to practice your reading and our phonics.  Practice the alphabet and counting to 100 forwards and backwards.  Practice counting beyond 100 if you want to challenge yourself.  Have a look at the clip below to practice counting to 100 fast.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr6SI1qwBPs

I hope you all have a kind day and don't forget to share your work.

Keep well and safe
