kind words

Good morning Year 1

Hope you are all feeling well and keeping safe.  It's a bit cloudy today and quite cold.  Thank you all for your comments and photos. Did any of you do PE with Joe Wicks?  Let me know if you did.
Today I thought we could focus on being kind.  This is something we talk about all the time in school and now it is extra special to be kind and caring.  Please remember to post a comment and send any photos through email.

Activity 1

What does kindness mean to you?
Draw a picture of all the people in our communities who are kind and help others.  Remember to label who they are. For example - nurses, doctors, care workers, police, shopkeepers, delivery drivers, teachers, post men and women, family members,  friends and ambulance drivers and there are lots more.  See how many you can think of?

Activity 2

Why don't you today do something helpful for a member of your family.  You can help bake or lay the table at lunch time.  You can tidy your bedroom and get some soapy water and wash your plastic toys. (probably best to do this in the garden).  I'm sure there is something really kind that you can do.
You can then make a paper chain of kindness like the one below.  Make strips of paper and write something kind on each one then stick them together.
Paper Chain Kindness (K-5) – Small Act Big Impact

Activity 3

Today it would be nice to write a letter to a relative or close friend to tell them how much they mean to you.  You can then take a photo of it and send it to them.  You can say what you miss about them and tell them what you have been doing whilst at home.  You can draw them a picture of yourself with a smiley face to cheer them up.  You could also ask your parents permission and give a relative and quick call to say something kind.

You can finish your kindness day by writing down a short list of the things you are grateful for.  choose 3 things.  For example - good food to eat.

Remember to practice your reading and our phonics.  Practice the alphabet and counting to 100 forwards and backwards.  Practice counting beyond 100 if you want to challenge yourself.  Have a look at the clip below to practice counting to 100 fast.

I hope you all have a kind day and don't forget to share your work.

Keep well and safe
