Fabulous Friday

Good morning Year One
Hope you are all well and looking forward to the weekend.  I think today is going to be another sunny day so let's make the most of it if we can.  Please remember to post a short comment and to view today's activities at the end of the day.  I will be posting a timetable for next week which will provide you with some structure to the day but will still be posting learning in a more creative way so don't worry.  It's all about making things easier for you to learn at home.  Today let's  have a nice end to a busy week.  I will see you at the end of the day.

Activity 1

PE session with Joe Wicks  9.00
or

warm up with Maximo .  Click on the link below

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MAsP7TYPYcc

Activity 2

Phonics and reading your book.
To practice phase five words with dragons den
https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/5/dragons-den

Practice tricky words trucks on the link below
https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources/phase/5/tricky-word-trucks

Next, make a list of adjectives(describing words) to describe your rocket that you have drawn.  Here is an example below:

Rocket Ship Cartoon Png , Transparent Cartoon, Free Cliparts ...
red     silver   round window   hot fire   yellow   orange   pointed shape    small   large  fast   speedy

When you have made a list of adjectives, use them to write 3 sentences about your rocket.  Remember to start your sentence with a capital letter and end it with a full stop.  For example:

My silver rocket travels very fast.

Activity 3

To day let's practice our numbers outside using chalks.  Use our chalks to count in tens, twos and fives.
When you finished you can design an obstacle course using your chalks.  You can make some simple straight lines for you to walk on, then some zig-zag lines.  I'm sure you can think of your own ideas for your obstacle course.

If you haven't any chalks, you can make an obstacle course using other things for you to step over, go under, around, beneath, through and so on.  I hope you have a lovely day and keep busy.

Reflection
Well done everyone for another fantastic week. You are trying so hard to complete the tasks set even when things are a little tricky.  Thank you so much for your co-operation.  I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the sunshine.  I will now share some photos from today and then will publish another post showing you our timetable ready for next week.

Neil Armstrong

Good morning Year 1
I hope you all had a good evening and a good night's sleep.  I think today is going to be another sunny day which is nice because it means we go into the garden for some fresh air.  Please remember to post a comment onto the blog, it's always so nice to hear from you because I miss being in class with you all.

Activity one
Here is the link to a more structured learning day.  I can see through your photos that some of you are using this.

Activity two

Today I want you to find out some information about Neil Armstrong.  Who was he? Why is he famous?
Go to the link below -
https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zhpchbk/articles/z4w3mfr

Activity three

Yesterday we started looking at the planets in the Solar System.  I thought it would be creative for you to design your own planet.  You can choose whatever you like to draw it or make it using card, if you have any.  Use your imagination to make it fabulous.

1. Look at some images of other planets.
2. What do you want your planet to look like?
3. What would live and grow on your planet?
4. Remember to make it a safe place that is good for nature and all living creatures.
5. What colour will it be?
6.  Will your planet be large or small and why?

I hope you have a lovely day.  Please remember to read each day.
I have included a link for stories you can listen to.  Why don't you listen to 'Stinky winky donkey', I think it's a silly book so it's fun.

Trip to the Moon

Good morning Year One

Hope you are all well.  It is going to be another sunny day I think.  Remember to look at the blog at the end of the school day because you will see a reflection of the day's activities and also I include of your lovely photos and work you have sent.  It gives you the chance to see what your friends have been doing.

If you want to keep to the structured day, here is the link below for you to use.
https://kids.classroomsecrets.co.uk/home-learning-timetable/  - go to year 1.  Then scroll down to week beg 20.4.20 and choose the correct day and have a go.

This term our topic is about astronauts and space especially looking at famous people who have been very important to achieving great things in our world.

Activity 1

Our story that will link to our topic is called 'Whatever Next! '  It is about a baby bear who wants to visit the moon.  You can listen to the story on the link below and then I have some questions for you to answer.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXzp4iw15-s

What did Baby bear use to make a rocket?

What has he used for his space boots?

Can you remember what Baby bear had for his pack lunch?  Make a list.

What bird flew past him on his way to the moon?

What did Baby bear and owl think about their time on the moon?

Maybe you can have your own picnic today in your garden.  What would you like to have in your pack lunch box?

Here is another version of the story for you.  Choose which one you think is the best.

Activity 2
To draw your own rocket.  What will it look like?  What colour will it be?
Ask your parents to start collecting any old boxes for junk modelling so that later on you can make your own rocket like Baby bear.

Phonics revision -
https://new.phonicsplay.co.uk/resources     - Click on the link.  Then click on phase 5.  Then scroll down the page and click on alternative spellings for the ai sound. Then play word sort.

You can play the tricky word games on the phonic play and you can practice spelling them in your book or on paper.  See if you can write them in a sentence.

Activity 3

Art work
If possible today, why don't you create some outside artwork from your garden.  You can make a collage using some leaves, small twigs etc.  When I was studying we made large flowers using things we found outside.  You can stick them down on paper if you have glue or just make something on the ground and take a picture.  Have fun!

Please remember to comment and keep in touch! Have a good day.
