Activity 3

Today we are going to look at Coding.  This is where you can see if you can program Pixel the dog to find his way home.  Have a go and see how you get on.  

When you  click on the link, press play now and then go back to number 1.  For some reason it goes straight to number 4!   We have looked at coding in class so this is slightly different but I'm sure you will be able to do it.  You have to drag the purple parts to the orange start and then press the arrow at the bottom to see if you have done it correctly.

Good morning Year One

I hope you have all had a good night's sleep.  Thank you for all your photos and comments on the blog.  Lots of you are saying how much you are missing your friends so it's nice to take a look at the blog at the end of the day to see their photos.  Here are today's activities.

Activity 1 

Today I would like you to draw/design an exciting new spacesuit for an astronaut(male or female).  Your spacesuit could have superpowers!  Think about what superpower it might have.  What colour or colours will it be?  It will have to be safe to wear in Space.  You can use what you like to decorate it.  (pencils, crayons, paint, shiny paper, glitter, tissue paper etc)

When you have finished, make a list of 5 words that describe the new spacesuit.

Maths today is to learn the value of 2p, 5p and 10p.  Have fun and enjoy.  Here is today's link.

If you have any problems clicking on the link you can practice finding how many ways to make 2p 5p and 10p.  Look at the example below:

Where is the sunshine gone?  I suppose I do need some rain to water my garden and help my flowers to grow.  I hope you are all well and still smiling.  I have had some amazing photos of your space robots from yesterday's activities which I will share at the end of the day.  Please remember to comment on the blog or email me as it's great to keep in touch with each other.

This lesson looks at 2p and 5p and 10p .  If you have problems clicking on link you can practice adding coins together to make the total.  e.g. 10p + 2p =        5p + 5p + 5p =

You can make them as challenging as possible.  Have a go!

Activity 3

Science

Today I wanted you to make a bubble snake to use outside but because the weather isn't great I think it's best to leave it for a sunny day.  So why don't we find things in our house that float or sink.  You need to find 10 of your own objects.  You can use a washing up bowl of water and see whether they float or sink to the bottom.  On paper draw two large circles and label with sink or float.  Then you can group your objects depending on what you found out.   

How many of your objects float/sink?  Why do you think some floated and some didn't?  Did more objects float/sink?

Can you make something that will float?  It could be something for a small toy to fit on. Enjoy!

Good morning Year One

Activity 1

Look at the picture of the astronaut below.  Read the sentences and copy if you like.  Then make a list of all the describing words.

        Hello, I'm an astronaut and my name is Tom. I like to go on adventures in Space. I am wearing a white spacesuit with red stripes.  My rocket is fast and powerful.  It is white and red with a blue window.  I have a yellow robot dog with  black wheels so it can move around the orange moon and explore. 

Activity 2      

Today we are going to introduce money and the 1p coin.  I have included a video of a lesson for you to enjoy.  If you cannot get on the link don't worry.  You can ask a parent to look at the coins they have.  You can draw around them, or if you have a crayon you can do a rubbing of the different coins.  See how many coins you can find and say what they are.

Activity 3

Art and DT

Today I would like you to start making a collection of things to make your own rocket.  I know that some of you started to make your rocket already so if you have you can collect things to make a space robot like in the picture.  Draw your space robot first and then make a list of boxes, clean yogurt pots and whatever else you can find to make the best space robot ever.  What can you use for the legs?  What would be best for the head?  How can you make the eyes?  Can you make a part of the body that will move?

Remember to read your reading book.  If the weather is ok you can read it in the garden.  It doesn't matter if you have read it before because you can be practicing to read fluently and with expression.  You can read your book to a younger member of the family or to your toys.  You can also look at other book links I've given you before.
