seasons and shapes
Good morning year 1
Hope you are all well and keeping safe with your family. It has been so lovely seeing your comments and photos of the work you have been doing at home.
Activity 1
Can you tell me what day it is today? Then lets see if you can sing the days of the week song and write down each day. You can time yourself and ask a parent to check your spellings.
This is the last day of March. What month comes next? Can you remember the months of the year? What month is your birthday?
You can write for example
My birthday is in __________. ______________ comes after March.
Can you remember how many seasons we have? What are they called?
There are __ seasons. They are called ___________________________.
You can draw a seasons picture to put in your window.
My favourite season is summer because I like to walk in the warm sunshine.
What is your favourite season and why?

Sunny Monday
Good morning year one
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend with your loved ones. The weather was nice and sunny so at least we could spend time in the garden.
Today, after you have completed the activities I will look forward to seeing a message in the comment box when you have finished or a photo uploaded through email. I'm really missing everyone so would love to hear from you.
Today let's begin with a warm up or two.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JdBlXPWM8AI
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1b6axyuaKcY
Activity one
Today I like you to design two new outfits for Barnaby bear and his travels. You can decide where you think he would like to go. He needs one outfit for somewhere very cold. He also needs one outfit for somewhere very hot. I would like you to draw him wearing his outfits and then I would like you to label what he is wearing. You can design something that's smart, casual or cool!
Activity two
Please remember to read your book and practice your phonic games on phonic play.
https://www.phonicsplay.co.uk/member-only/Phase5Menu.htm
Here are the different spellings for the ee sounds.
ee ea ie y ey e
Can you read and copy out the following sentences? When you have finished, underline all the words that make the ee sound.
Like this-
The chief jumped in the deep sea with a squeak.
Sam had a dream about magic beans that made him scream.
Can you catch the cheeky creature from the kitchen?
The sleepy puppy came to eat a meat treat by my feet.
Now can you practice to read and spell our decodable words. You can time yourself and see how many times you can spell them correctly. When you have finished see if you can write them in a sentence.
day made came make
Activity 3
Can you sort these number problems for Barnaby bear? Make your own numberline to help you first. See how you get on and just try your best. It's all good practice!
Barnaby had 12 pencils. He went to the shop and bought 6 more. Then he found 4 more under his bed. How many pencils did Barnaby bear have altogether?
Barnaby went to the local toy shop and bought 20 bouncy balls. He gave 4 to his little brother and 4 to his big sister. How many did he have left?
If Barnaby had 25 marbles and he gave 5 to his best friend and 3 to another friend, how many would he have for himself?
Barnaby had 10 Easter eggs. His mum bought him 10 more. then he gave 2 to his little brother. How many did he have for himself?
Can you make up some of your own number problems?
Let me know how you all get on. You can leave a message to me in the comment box or send me a photo.
Have a lovely day and keep safe
Good afternoon year one

Treasure
Good morning year one
It has been so lovely to see all your efforts to complete your tasks at home. I have enjoyed looking at your photos so much. Please can you leave me a comment when you do a task because I'm missing being in class and speaking to you all. You can write me a short message in the comment box. Thank you
Activity 1
Today I thought it will be great fun to make your own treasure map in your house or your garden. Have a look at the pirate treasure map below.
You can create your own map of your home or your garden and hide some of your items around it. Then you can mark each piece of your hidden treasure onto your map with a pirate's cross.
Here is a map of someone's garden to show you. You can add a compass- North, South, East and West on your map. Ask a parent to help you with that. Here is another example to show you below
1. First you draw your map with lots of detail and colour it in.
2..Then you hide your chosen treasure items around your house or garden and mark them on your map with a cross.
3. Next, explain your map to someone in your family and then they can go hunting for the treasure.
4. Finally, you can give them clues to help them find the treasure.
Activity 2
Can you find the missing numbers? First, write the numbers up to 100 to help you.
11 _ 13 14 15 ___ ____ 18 ___ 20 ____
34 ___ 36 37 38 39 ____ 41 42 ____
8 9 10 ___ 12 13 ___ 15 16 ____
71 ___ 73 74 75 ____ 77 78 79 80
Can you make your own missing number line? Ask some one in your family to find the missing numbers.
Activity 3
Can you sort out my mixed up sentences? Remember a sentence has a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. Have a go! When you have finished you can draw the pirate ship and Captain Tim. Good luck!
My pirate called is Tim.

Teddy bear picnic
Good morning year 1
Activity 1
Today let's have a teddy bear's picnic with all your teddies or dolls or other soft toys. You can first think of what would be a healthy picnic like we have talked about in school. You could draw some different types of food, enough for all your teddies to share equally. When you have drawn your food you can cut them out and share them with your toys..You can have some sandwiches with different fillings inside like, cheese, ham, chocolate spread, banana or chicken. Remember to draw some glasses of your favourite drinks although remember not fizzy drinks as this is bad for your teeth!
Activity 2
Can you write the alphabet and then make an alphabet favourite food list. Challenge yourself to think of a favourite food for every letter of the alphabet.
a apple
b bread
c cake
Activity 3
Numeracy problems
Can you work out the following problems? You can show your answers by drawing and then crossing things out if it will help you. You can then write your answer as a number sentence. Look at my example-
Mrs Rowland had 8 blueberries. She gave 5 to her son. How many did she have left?
8 - 5 = 3
1. Sam had 17 apples. He gave 3 to his best friend. How many apples did he have left?
2. Tom started with 20 grapes. His dad gave him 6 more. How many grapes do Tom have now?
3. Pete made 10 apple pies. He gave 5 to Mrs Rowland. How many pies are left?
4. Ken had 24 sausages left. He'd given 6 to his friend. How many did Ken have when he started?
5. Miss Hoggins made 30 strawberry tarts. Mrs Rowland ate 10 of those tarts. How many are left?
Can you now make up some of your own problems? You can use the names of children in class.
Justin had 12 toy cars to play with. He let his friend Filip play with 6 of them. How many did Justin play with?
Remember to read a book. Practice your phonics. You can make a list of words with the ee phoneme. Look in your pack to choose an activity off the list you have. Play with lego, build a town for a teddy bear. Draw a picture of the weather.
Remember to comment.
Take care and keep safe.
Today's reflection
Thank you everyone for today' s hard work. Glad to see you are all ok. I have enjoyed looking at all your pictures.

Rainbow
Good morning year ones
Hope you and your family are all keeping well and keeping yourselves safe. It's another lovely sunny day which is a great opportunity to spend some time in the garden. I spent yesterday afternoon in my garden tidying and cutting back overgrown shrubs and sweeping up leaves.
Activity 1
Today it would be nice if you paint or draw a picture of a fabulous rainbow to put in your window. I've noticed lots of people are already doing this so if you haven't you could make one of your own. Rainbows are there to cheer people up and make them smile. You could make a collage rainbow if you have any pieces of coloured paper at home!
Activity 2
Counting to 100 with Captain America
Click on the link below
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YbGk_7xiFJ0
Also you can practice counting backwards from 100 and exercise at the same time.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jMmZaFvRpE
Let's also work on our counting in 2s action rhyme
Two,four, six, eight,
Who do we appreciate? (Hold hands out, palms up, shrug shoulders)
Ten, twelve, and fourteen,
We're so fast we can't be seen. (Run on the spot)
Sixteen, eighteen, twenty, so...
Now you see how fast we go! (Run on the spot)
Twenty-two and twenty-four,
Tables ended. Close the door! (Shout this last line and clap hands loudly)
You could make up your own rhyme for counting in twos!
Activity 3
Barnaby bear is going on a train journey today!
https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p01157ts
Draw a picture of a train and write and draw all the things that Barnaby saw from the window. You could also draw some other things he might see on his journey. He might see some physical features like - beach, cliff, forest, trees, hill, mountain sea, ocean, river, weather, soil and flowers.
Also draw some human features he might see like- town, house, bridge factory, farm, shop and post office.
A picture of Barnaby bear looking very happy on his travels will be great.
Also remember to practice the phonics on our earlier link. You could watch number blocks on cbeebies and alpha blocks . Read a book and copy the writing to make it into your own book.
look at a different activity in your pack from the bingo sheet.

Activity 2
Go to our phonics link and practice the different ways of spelling for the ee phoneme. You can play phoneme spotter and word sort just like we do in class. Get yourself a piece of paper or just use your spare book inside the pack and divide it into sections like we do with our white boards. You can then play lots of the other games on phonics play like the pirate game. All this will help with your reading.
Click on the link below

Here are our tricky words to practice for this week
said, so, have, like
Can you write a sentence with those words included?
Activity 3
Look outside your window and draw very carefully what you can see. So, from my window I can see my washing blowing on the line, flowers in pots, moss on the ground, the garage door, ivy growing up the walls, coloured solar lights hanging up, a rose bush, a table and chairs, daffodils and I can hear birds but I can't spot them. You can add as much detail as possible and colour. If you want you can imagine what you would like to see outside of your window instead. For example the blue sea and a sandy beach.
Remember to look through your pack for other things for you to practice at this time. Look at the Home Daily Schedule inside your pack to help if need be.
Reading, puzzles, playing in the garden or helping in the garden are relaxing things to do.
