Wonderful Wednesday

Good morning Year One
I would just like to start with saying a big thank you for all the effort and hard work you have been doing whilst we have been learning at home.  I am so proud of you all.  Here are today's activities for you.  Have a good day and please keep sending pictures or comment on the blog.

Warm up- Maximo

Activity 1
English:  To listen to our story again from Monday and draw our own magnificent, marvellous moon map of our own.  Click on the link below to listen to the story.

Let’s see if you can draw your own magnificent, mighty, most marvellous moon map of your own, if possible on a large sheet of paper.  Or you could use your imagination and create a map using items around your house.  You could use a white pillow case to place things on instead of drawing it on paper.

Activity 2
Maths: counting in fives warm up

Today we are going to looking at equal and unequal groups.  See the link below.

If you have problems getting on the link, why don’t you practice sharing objects out in equal and unequal groups.  So you can ask an adult to count out some lego for you and then you have to see if you can sort them into 3 groups. (you could use 3 plates to put them on)  You can try this with different amounts of objects and different groups.  You might share your objects between 5 groups or 2 groups.

Activity 3

History/topic: Can you find out something about the first all-female spacewalk? When did it happen?

Nasa First All-Female Spacewalk ⋆

Nasa's incompetence has scuppered the first all-female spacewalk ...

Over the last couple of weeks we have looked at Neil Armstrong and Tim Peake.  They are remembered in history for what they have done.  There are lots of people in the past that are remembered for doing something amazing.  We are now experiencing something (virus) that will be talked about for years to come.  Children will be learning about this in school in the future.  Remembering things that has happened in our past is something I thought we could think about today.
I would like you to draw a picture and write a sentence about a special day that you can remember.  It might be a special birthday, a special holiday with family members, a special day out with friends or grand-parents.  It could be a memory of someone’s wedding celebration that you went to or a day when you achieved something, like a swimming certificate.  It might be a special day when a younger brother or sister was born that you remember.  It’s up to you.

Reading and phonics: Read your level book in the garden and remember to practice your phonics.

Reflection
Well done for all your hard work today.  I am so proud of what you are doing at home.  I know it's difficult not working alongside your friends and sharing ideas.  I wish you all a relaxing evening with your family.  Take care and see you tomorrow.  Here are your fabulous photos from today.
